Stainless Steel Maintenance Tips
Dec 29, 2018

The use of stainless steel has become more widespread with the development of the economy. People are closely related to stainless steel in daily life, but many people don't know much about the performance of stainless steel, and know less about the maintenance of stainless steel. Many people think that stainless steel will never rust. In fact, stainless steel has good corrosion resistance. The reason is that the surface forms a passivation film. In nature, it is in the form of a more stable oxide. That is to say, although the stainless steel is different in oxidation depending on the conditions of use, it is eventually oxidized. This phenomenon is usually Called eclipse.

All metal surfaces exposed to corrosive environments undergo electrification or chemical reactions and are uniformly corroded. The part of the stainless steel surface passivation film with weak corrosion resistance forms a pitting reaction due to the self-excited reaction, and generates small holes, and the chloride ions are close to form a strong corrosive solution to accelerate the corrosion reaction rate. There is also intergranular corrosion cracking inside the stainless steel, all of which destroys the passivation film on the stainless steel surface. Therefore, the stainless steel surface must be regularly cleaned and maintained to maintain its gorgeous surface and extend its service life. When cleaning the stainless steel surface, care must be taken not to cause surface scratching. Avoid using bleaching ingredients and abrasive cleaning liquids, steel balls, grinding tools, etc. To remove the washing liquid, rinse the surface with clean water at the end of washing.

The surface of the stainless steel is dusty and easy to remove dirt. It can be washed with soap, weak detergent or warm water. The trademark and film of the stainless steel surface are washed with warm water, weak detergent, and the binder component is scrubbed with alcohol or organic solvent (ether, benzene). The grease, oil and lubricating oil on the surface of stainless steel are contaminated, wiped clean with a soft cloth, and then cleaned with a neutral detergent or ammonia solution or with a special detergent.

The surface of the stainless steel is bleached and various acids are attached. Rinse immediately with water, dip with ammonia solution or neutral carbonated soda solution, and wash with neutral detergent or warm water.

The stainless steel surface has a rainbow pattern, which is caused by excessive use of detergent or oil. It can be washed with warm water detergent when washing. The rust caused by dirt on the surface of stainless steel can be washed with 10% nitric acid or grinding detergent, or with special washing drugs. As long as we use the correct maintenance method, we can extend the service life of stainless steel and keep it clean, bright and gorgeous.
