The Main Reason Why Stainless Steel Decorations Will Not Rust
May 17, 2017

The defects of 1 Stainless Steel: heavy leather, inclusions, such as trachoma, impurity in these defects through the water oxidation reaction and infiltration to the surface of the stainless steel and the formation of rust;

2 stainless steel surface exposed to the liquid also contains rust rust formation;

3. stainless steel surface exposure to containing SO2, H2S, NO2, CO2, CL+ gas or solution will appear corrosion.

Decorative stainless steel corrosion, in addition to its defects, and the environment, such as air humidity, a great relationship between air temperature, flow velocity, flow direction, air impurities composition and quantity etc..

General decorative stainless steel products have stainless steel decorative tube, stainless steel polished rod, stainless steel bright silk, stainless steel, six angle stick, etc.

201 series - chromium nickel manganese austenitic stainless steel

300 series - chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel

301 - ductility is good for molding products. It can also be hardened rapidly by mechanical processing. Good weldability. The abrasion resistance and fatigue strength are better than 304 stainless steel.

302 - 304 with corrosion resistance, due to the relatively high carbon intensity.

303 - by adding a small amount of sulfur and phosphorus, it is easier to cut than 304.

304 - general model: 18/8 stainless steel. GB is 0Cr18Ni9.

309 - better temperature resistance than 304.

316 - after 304, second of the most widely used steel grades are used mainly in the food industry and surgical equipment, adding molybdenum to obtain a corrosion resistant special structure. Because of its better resistance to chloride corrosion than 304, it is also used as "ship steel". SS316 is usually used in nuclear fuel recovery devices. Grade 18/10 stainless steel usually meets this application level.

321 - except for the risk of corrosion of material welds due to the addition of titanium, other properties are similar to those of 304.

400 series - Ferritic and martensitic stainless steels

408 - good heat resistance, weak corrosion resistance, 11% Cr, 8% Ni.

409 - the cheapest model (Ying Mei), usually used as an automobile exhaust pipe, is made of ferritic stainless steel (Ge Gang).

410 - martensite (high strength steel), good wear resistance, corrosion resistance is poor.

416 - adding sulfur improves the machinability of the material.

420 - "cutting class" martensitic steel, similar to Brandt's first high chromium stainless steel this. Also used in surgical knives, which can be made very bright.

430 - ferritic stainless steel, for decorative purposes, such as automotive accessories. Good formability, but poor temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.

440 - high strength cutting tool steel, carbon is slightly higher, after appropriate heat treatment to obtain a higher yield strength and hardness can reach 58HRC, which belongs to the most hard stainless steel column. The most common example is razor blades". There are three commonly used models: 440A, 440B, 440C, and 440F (easy to process).

500 series - Heat-Resisting Chromium Alloy steel.

600 series martensitic precipitation hardened stainless steel.
